Medical relief work after earthquake januari 2010 , Port Au Prince , Haïti

Medical relief after one of the most devastating earthquaakes of the last decades … Our V-MED team ( a stricktly Medical team from the Flemisch Governement , Belgium ) arrived in Port Au Prince 1 day after the quake. We started giving medical care on the streets , in delmas 19 , central city of Port Au Prince… Three days later we found an almost completly destroyed Hospital , where we were able to restart most of the activities after one week … Our team , supported by other teams ( Poland , Malthezer , Germany , Fairfax-County search and rescue and the traumateam from the University of Maryland ) was able to do provide medical care for about 700 injured and displaced Haïtian … We did lots of operations , wound debridements and care and seen there were lots of open fractures we placed a lot of external fixations on fractures… All these patiënt have a chance on a rehabilitation and better future … And all the things we started will be continued by the traumateam from the University of Maryland during the next 6 to 12 months… Our special thanks goes to the Flemisch governement.
